Sighting waves

Sometimes a UFO does not appear just once but haunts a region en masse: police phones ring nonstop, newspapers print report after report, and the military sends up aircraft. Sighting waves – like the “ghost rockets” over Sweden in 1946 or the Belgian wave of 1989–1990 – also interest sociologists, because they show how media coverage shapes what people see in the sky.
