What happened
On the morning of May 10, 1978, 71-year-old farmer Jan Wolski was driving his horse-drawn cart through the forest back to Emilcin. According to his account, two short visitors with greenish faces, in dark, tight-fitting suits, communicating in squeaky sounds, climbed onto the cart beside him. In a clearing, Wolski saw a bright craft hovering a few meters above the ground; the visitors invited him inside on a descending platform. Inside, he was told to undress and was examined with a strange device; he also saw motionless jackdaws and crows there. After a few minutes he said goodbye and returned home, where he told his family everything. The case was investigated by the police and by ufologists, including Zbigniew Blania-Bolnar. In 2005, a monument commemorating the event was unveiled in Emilcin.
Witnesses
Jan Wolski; six-year-old Adam Popiołek also spoke of the craft, although his account differed in its details. Neighbors found only footprints in the meadow.
Explanations and hypotheses
The commander of the local Citizens’ Militia station concluded in his report that the farmer had dreamed it all, but the psychiatrist who examined him, Dr. Ryszard Krasilewicz, found no disorders or tendency to fabricate. In 2012, journalist Bartosz Rdułtowski put forward the hypothesis of a hoax involving a local ufologist, which was criticized by the research community. Wolski, who died in 1990, remained convinced to the end that he had met visitors from another world.
Unexplained There is no convincing explanation.
